We made pretty good time on our way south out of St. Augustine, stopping and anchoring overnight in Daytona and Cocoa.  Mostly, we just wanted to get south so we can try to avoid some of the cold weather headed our way and so we can meet up with our friend Caroline in Fort Pierce.  Somehow I didn’t get any pictures on the trip south out of Cocoa and really didn’t get many while we were staying in Vero! (my bad…)

The vero beach marina is fantastic.  We stayed there for 4 nights on a mooring ball.  They have wifi, (unlimited, hot, free) showers, laundry, a lounge… and they’re walking distance to the beach and to Publix and West Marine.  Overall it was safe, clean, and convenient.  Apparently the place is nicknamed “velcro beach” because of how many boats end up there and just never leave! I can definitely see why!

Headed away from Peregrine to run some errands
The mooring field. Very calm and protected in here.
The marina facilities
Nice bathroom and showers!

I really should have taken more photos of the Vero Beach area.  The walk to the beach is really nice and you can choose to walk through an older neighborhood with cute established houses and beautiful trees.  The beach, of course, is lined with shops and restaurants.  We’re definitely planning on spending some time here on our way back north!

We even managed to get some work done on the boat! I didn’t get pictures of anything except this little plaque that I found while cleaning out the boat after we bought it.  It’s funny and true and it needed to have a place of honor somewhere!

One day we needed something from the store, which is like 2+ miles from the boat… so we walked up that way and then I got hungry and realllly wanted sushi/asian food.  So, long story short, we ended up walking around 7 miles round trip to get sushi and fried rice. I regret nothing.

worth it
Sometimes the boys are cute and snuggle
Duster looking fabulous in the sunshine
Duster is the cover-cat on one of my facebook groups!

While we were headed south, we passed another Island Packet and had a few minutes of mutual admiration for each other’s vessels.  I eventually found them on the IP facebook group and sent them the pictures that I took of their boat, while they sent me their photos of mine while underway! She sure looks heavy!

That bow wake though…
chonk

I did actually take a few photos of the beach when we walked down to it.  It was a nice sunny day, but still a little too cold for me to want to go swimming! Have to get a little further south for that!

yay florida!

ah yes… we ARE in south florida now…

Our aforementioned friend Caroline took a week off of work to hang out with us while we’re in town and I can’t wait to see her!
