Most of the water coming out of a marine water tank is pretty gross.  Sometimes it gets contaminated with bacteria and sometimes it just gets stale and tastes terrible.  Either way, we have 3 people who demand excellent water for their coffee and 4 people who need to drink a lot of water to not be dehydrated. I decided to buy another UV purification system (Acuva Arrowmax) like we had in Peregrine.  There’s a pre-filter for contaminants and chlorine, the UV filter that kills any bacteria and viruses, and a mineralizer filter to add minerals back into the water at the end for good tasting water!

We decided to install the system at the wet bar sink up by the door instead of in the kitchen so it would be easy to use and refill water bottles.  (We are also planning a nice coffee bar up there… more on that later!) I had the faucet installed in a few minutes by ripping out the old soap dispenser and sliding it into the existing hole. Now we can wash our hands and fill our bottles up at the same time!

Ta da!
Yeah, still working on wiring….

We lucked out and had a spare 12v duplex wire that we pulled out from the back of the boat and routed easily into the cabinet where the purifier will be installed.  It also *just happened* to be located on the electrical panel right next to the power wire for the water pump.  So all I had to do was jumper them together and the UV purifier will be turned on when the water pump is turned on at the breaker! Perfect!

UV is on the top left and the pre-filter is under the sink.

Because RO water is technically “perfect” you need to add some minerals back in to make it taste good, so that’s what I did today

All plumbing is done!

The UV purification system is complete! We’re still working on the water system on the rest of the boat so I can’t turn it on and test it, but I can check this one off my list!
