Georgetown is a fairly large town in the southern Exumas that’s known for being the big hangout for all of the cruisers. It was also our goal destination this year and we made it! Due to Covid and whatnot there were “only” about 150 boats in the harbor compared to the normal 300 or more! So, comparatively, the place is pretty dead! They have a morning cruisers net on the radio at 8 every morning.  Most everyone anchors across the channel at stocking island, which is covered in hiking trails and beautiful sandy beaches.

Our first anchoring spot was at monument beach which is labeled because of the huge stone structure at the top of the hill. Apparently this was used by the big trading ships for navigation. Another fun thing was that people write their boat names in rocks at the base of the monument.

What a terrible beach!
It’s pretty big and it’s leaning over

Monument from the other hill we accidentally climbed

Beautiful blue water

The sign at chat and chill

It took us a while to figure out where all the hiking trails were but once we figured it out we went for multiple walks to explore and look for shells on the beach!
