Green Turtle Cay is only about an hour further down the Sea of Abaco from our spot at Manjack Cay. It’s an actual little community and we needed some groceries and oil for the dinghy. We’d really like to get that stuff here and avoid having to go into the actual town of Marsh Harbor if we can help it! The cut to get into the harbor of Black Sound was suuuuper narrow and marked by green and red pilings as it snakes its way in. Our boat has too deep of a keel to even come in or out of here at low tide! Luckily we made it easily and grabbed a mooring ball from Donny, while our friends on Seahawk tied up to the dock so they could get water and power. Black Sound isn’t really a place I would swim or snorkel, unfortunately, but the benefit is that we could rent a golf cart from Donny and go explore the island and the town!
We ended up at Pineapples which has a pool, a beach, a restaurant, and a bar! It’s the place to be!!! I, like a dumbass, forgot my swimsuit and didn’t actually get to swim in the pool. Lesson learned: always wear your swimsuit everywhere!
I found a new beverage! It tasted like cream soda mixed with the ‘mystery flavor’ dum dums.
We even found a marina that was a Suzuki dealer and they were able to change the oil in our outboard motor for us! Makes things way easier. The funniest part is that they picked up our tiny 10′ dinghy with the same thing they use for the 30′ fishing boats. Total overkill!
Green turtle cay was fantastic. The food was excellent and the people all seem to know each other and are super friendly! We managed to get everything we needed from the 2 local grocery stores. I would love to come back and spend some more time here on our way back north!
Where was Pineapples? We didn’t see it! We would have loved to go there!! Was it at White Sound or Black Sound??
It was east out of town a ways. Pretty neat place! We got there by golf cart.
