After getting groceries and tucking the truck safely away in the parking garage (Great deal! $30 a month for covered parking!) jason and I were finally ready to truly start heading south! Our first stop? The fuel dock! We topped up the diesel and water tanks and filled all 4 of our gas cans so we’re ready to rock!
We didn’t get a super early start (too much to do…) and the weather ended up getting a little cloudy. Since we’re in the inter coastal waterway and it’s so narrow we pretty much just have to motor, so that’s what we did. Yanmar needed a workout anyway! We went through a few bridges but nothing super spectacular. The landscape along this section of the ICW is real “old Florida” with small palm trees, scrub brush, and mangroves. I really wanted to take the dinghy out exploring but we’re on a mission today. Our goal was to end up at this one anchorage Jason found at like 3-4, nice and early in the day. However when we got there we realized that it was going to be too shallow for us and there wasn’t enough room to turn around if we started to hit the bottom. We made the decision to bail and keep going. Our final resting place for the night was at the north end of the bridges at Daytona beach! We had a beautiful sunset and some green curry for dinner.
The sunset was gorgeous and I finally decided to bring my big camera out and get some real shots! The reflections in the water were really cool!
