Jason and I have never really explored the Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge… only passing through it to get to other places. We decided to carve out a day to dedicate to driving around and exploring some of the side roads and see what this place is really all about!
After going to a few of the lookouts on top of the various peaks we made our way down and headed out of the refuge. Along the way we stopped at one of the dry lake beds to look for rocks. (of course! and yay I found some!) We also had to get some action shots of the truck!
We also saw a legit cattle drive! Complete with a few cowboys in the back.
I don’t really like cows. They’re big and stupid, which is usually a bad combination. The adult cows just sauntered along the middle of the road but would move when you got close. The little cows, however, didn’t really understand what was happening and would sometimes dart across the road. We had to be pretty careful to get through them!
