Jason ordered us a set of paddleboards on super duper clearance while we were still living in Washington.  We had them shipped to his sister Jamie in Jacksonville to wait for us to move down here. Well, here we are finally!  I’ve been *dying* to get out on the water.  We’ve been here for over a month and I haven’t seen the ocean yet because it’s been closed! Which is a tragedy.  Now that the beaches are starting to reopen and Jason and I haven’t had a single day off of working on the boat, it was time to go on an adventure and take a break!

The paddleboards are inflatable and really take up very little space when they’re rolled up in their respective backpacks.

They inflate to like 13 psi and are practically rock hard when they’re full.  It’s worth the trade off in flexibility to be able to store them easily instead of having to wrangle a pair of 10′ long boards around the boat and on top of the truck!

Our plan was to go paddle in the ocean since there aren’t alligators there and the surf forecast said it would be flat…and for the beach it was flat! Unfortunately for us as brand new paddlers, it wasn’t quite flat enough that we wanted to try to paddle it.

THERE IT IS!!! WOOO!

We went back around to the other side of the inlet to Lighthouse Park and paddled in the river a little bit.  There was a wildlife sanctuary at the end that we paddled to until we hit a dead end and turned around.  We saw an eagle ray, cranes, jumping fish, and turtles! I didn’t get any pictures because I didn’t want to drag out my big camera and I don’t trust my cell phone around salt water.  Next time there will be pictures though, I promise! 🙂
