For the first time in forever, Katie is FREE!  I quickly commandeered her free Saturday. We’re all collectively terrible about making actual plans, so when she mentioned she wanted to see snow, we took that and ran with it.  Our “plan” was to drive into the Olympics and then go up until snow happened. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Well, it wasn’t… Somehow Jason navigated us to the parking area for the Upper (and lower!) Big Quilcene River Trail.  Since snow was the name of the game, we started to hike up.

Not too far up the trail we passed two ladies sitting on the ground eating sandwiches out of aluminum foil that they had brought.  That planted the seed to get burritos later. (for some reason everyone associates foil with burritos…)

It’s been too long since it’s been sunny and nice outside and we had a great time just being outside in nature and not being cold or wet.  Sometimes I forget how beautiful the Olympic Peninsula really is.

Ferns everywhere
Katie the adventurer!
I liked the shape of these trees…
Trees are way more interesting with a person standing there!
So many photos were taken!
Snow!

We got distracted from our hike by this very photogenic waterfall.  After shooting it for a while, we all realized that we were starving and turned around to head back to the truck.  We got burritos.. it was awesome.

Water blur through long shutter speed and setting the camera on a stump
Don’t know if I like this leaf or not
Now I set my camera on a rock closer to the water…
I stacked a few rocks IN the water to set my camera on. Live dangerously!

Photobomb! 😉
I love the misty water look!
The burritos are this way!
