Apparently the month of January is when all the bald eagles flock to the rivers up north in Washington to eat salmon.  Jason and I had planned to drive up there and take pictures, but I woke up Saturday morning just not feeling the 3 hour one way drive… and I’m not super into birds anyway. So instead of doing that, we caught the sunrise down south in Allyn along the waterfront. It was a 20 minute drive instead and I got a latte at the end of it!

The only birds we saw were these seagulls.
There were two rows along the pier
Not nearly as majestic as the eagles though….
Sunrise and reflections across the inlet
The fog almost makes this look like a painting
I don’t know how much longer this old boat has before it sinks.

Since we were already out and about and the birdwatching was less than stellar in Allyn, Jason and I stopped by Thelar Wetlands in Belfair.  It was on the way home anyway.  For some reason I always think that Thelar should have a ton of birds to shoot and it literally never does.  We saw a hawk all the way across the field, and one egret too far away to even get a picture of.  However, we got a little walk in and I got some neat pictures of the fog and the wetlands, so it wasn’t a wasted trip.

I like the mysterious feel of the fog
Layering and texture
The tiniest red tail hawk
More layers through the fog
Cattails
Minimalism
Lone tree
Bench looking out over nothing
