So what do you do in a van full of photographers on a multiple hour drive to a new location? (aside from general bullshitting, “there I was!…” stories, and hilarious camp songs that none of us remember…) You get your ass outta the van and shoot for a bit on a break! Which is exactly what we did… Bryan had made a point earlier about how you can move nature around because it’s reasonable that that leaf could have landed there if it makes a nice photo.  We headed down this trail that never quite reached the lake.  We never would have made it to the lake anyway because everyone was too busy playing in the leaves. This was one of the highlights of the trip for me.  I usually take my camera hiking and get the stereotypical “trail picture” but for some reason it never occurred to me to move things around and *make* my photo. Game on!

Next time you go on a hike or get bored in your own backyard this was a great exercise in color and composition! Highly recommend trying it!
