For my birthday back in February, Jason surprised me by signing me up for a photography workshop in Vancouver, Canada with my favorite author! (He’s going to have a hard time topping this birthday present! It was amazing!) I have all of Bryan Peterson’s books on photography and really like how straightforward his writing style is.  His workshops are even better than the books! I learned so much and it was just an overall great time!

The first place we went was Granville Island, which really reminds me of Pike Place Market in Seattle only with more square footage.  I would have liked to have more time to explore and do some shopping, but we were here to work!  The theme of this workshop was street photography, so we spent hours wandering around the island taking pictures of everything from architecture to moving vehicles.

Our first stop was this window with a mural behind it.
Bryan wanted someone in the doorway so he went over himself and pretended to be taking photos of something so we could all get the shot.
he likes shooting things through texture to create silhouettes. This was my best shot of that series, but it’s not my favorite by any means.
I thought this mural was kind of neat because we were exploring!

Another version.
We probably shot reflections on this door for an hour. Wouldn’t have thought to do that otherwise
I still like shooting traffic cones. here’s a tiny one.
