The next stop on our Tahiti island road trip was the Faarumai waterfalls.  Located vaguely past the blowhole from a previous post and down a dirt road that just screams “locals only!”  We were a little concerned that we were trespassing, but the people here are very friendly, unlike the horror stories that we hear about the natives in Hawaii not always appreciating foreigners on their turf.  Luckily, our concerns were unfounded because a very formal looking parking lot and sign greeted us at the end of the road.  (and on our return there was a large tour bus parked there. So obviously this is a thing.)

Getting closer
In rainy season you get the small side waterfalls also!

Long exposure with the rock
Another detail shot
Jason had the wide angle lens so I got the 90mm.

This was just the main waterfall a short 5 minute stroll from the parking lot.  A longer 30 minute hike along the river brought us to the convergence of two more, equally spectacular, waterfalls! (also, hiking in humidity isn’t going to be my hobby.)

Twin falls visible through the forest

Three falls in one

Since Jason had the wide angle lens on his camera and I had the macro lens, I took the opportunity to shoot some flowers.

Row of tiny detailed leaves
Ferns in the forest
Pink flowers in the parking lot
I like the shape these white flowers and their leaves formed
