We had a week on the actual island of Tahiti before we flew out to another island to pick up our boat for another 10 days.  What better way to explore the island than by a random road trip? Most of our road trips consist of driving around and randomly exploring things on the map that happen to look interesting.  Today was no different and our first stop on our loop of Tahiti was the Arahoho Blowhole.

There it is!

It doesn’t look super impressive, however the seas were super calm.  I’d imagine that with some more wave action, this place can get crazy!  There’s even a small tunnel with about a 12″ diameter that snakes under the walkway and exits on the other side where you can hear the waves echoing through. It looks like on rougher day, that tunnel shoots water all over the walkway (and probably all over tourists!).

Water everywhere

Jason decided to get technical and take some long exposure shots to blur the water waves.  I think a few of them turned out pretty neat!

On the beach

My less interesting photo of the beach
Rocky coastline mixed with black sand.
Palm tree and walkway
Finally got a shot of Jason and I together.
Clouds rolling in.
Pretty nice little walkway at the park here.
Look at that water!

Another motion blur shot of the waves.

Overall, this was a pretty neat stop! It would have been neat to see it on a day with more waves! The beach area had a little parking area and people with folding tables up selling various types of fruits.  The fruit stands are a thing here. I think people just have various types of trees in their backyards and then sell the fruit in parking lots and along the road.  We will have to stop and get some fresh fruit on the way back to the house!
