Jason and I spent a lot of time over Christmas break in Nevada exploring the Gold Butte area just outside the town of Mesquite.  One of the landmarks that stood out to us on google maps was the keyhole slot canyon.  I love slot canyons and definitely wanted to check out another one! It took a few hours down a gravel road into the middle of nowhere but we finally found it; a small crack in the middle of a large outcropping of red sandstone rocks. There were ancient petroglyphs on pretty much every flat surface around and inside the canyon.  I wish I knew what they meant! …and the best part? no other people to speak of! We had it practically to ourselves! 🙂

This is why it’s called the keyhole canyon!
