I’m still really getting into this whole portrait photography thing and learning so much! So when Katie asked if I would do a fitness photoshoot of her, I couldn’t say no! Only problem was… I’ve never done one!  To start the day off, we met up at waterfront Port Orchard and did some random street shenanigans with running around in circles and stretching in awkward locations… followed by some coffee to warm back up! I have to give Katie props for not once complaining about running around in a tank top and cute leggings when it’s like 40 degrees outside. That’s next level badass stuff right there…

Inspiring quote with patented “katie jump”
Because I love dumpsters. They’re the most misunderstood backgrounds.
Stretching with yellow building
A different version. It’s got more shape to it.
Another jump!
Super serious photoshoot right here…

After we had both had enough of wandering around downtown in the cold we went back to my place to do some “studio” shots.  The “studio” is in quotation marks because I don’t actually HAVE a studio. I hung a sheet from the loft in the garage, set garden lights on my tripods, and hoped for the best.  Our new garage door openers have motion sensing lights, which is really awesome, but super inconvenient when you just want them to stay off… The garden lights change colors with a remote.  I’ve used them for quite a few shoots actually, and I wanted to use the different lights to try to accentuate Katie’s muscles.  Her bright blonde hair ended up picking up the colors the best, but I ended up with quite a few shots I’m proud of!

Super fierce flexing
So much pink and blue!

yeah, she works out!
Ironically the black and white shot might be my favorite one!
More artistic stretching!
Katie really liked this shot. She looks pretty!

Now that I got a light stand for my birthday, I can actually set up REAL lighting in the garage and try these again in another couple months when Katie wants more pictures! Can’t wait!
