I know I was just in Bend, Oregon last month but I don’t think you people realize how cool this place is. 😉 We stayed at the Doubletree hotel located right at the edge of downtown. The location is awesome because it’s within walking distance of a ton of amazing restaurants, shopping, and Drake park right on the river. They also serve hot chocolate chip cookies and encourage us to bring the mountain bikes inside the hotel. The atmosphere in Bend is super outdoorsy and adventurous hipster coffee snob. I love it.
We also drove over to the Old Mill District for some food and our obligatory shopping excursion at REI to look at things we either don’t need or don’t need to afford. 😉 It’s a beautiful location running right along a section of the Deschutes river. I took the opportunity to play with the macro lens on my camera a bit.
Ok that’s enough of the flowers and leaves. 😉 Last time we were out here by the river there was a large spillway by the bridge. Apparently that’s been completely redone into separate easy and difficult sections of artificial rapids for the whitewater kayakers, all while making it easier for the salmon to swim upstream. Things like this is why I love Bend. Everything in this town is done to either be more artistic or to be more adventurous.
