The sail back to Goat Cay was pretty uneventful. By “sail” I mean motor because there was no wind at all to be had. Usually we anchor the boat at one of the popular spots in Georgetown like Monument beach but Goat Cay may turn into one of our favorite spots! The water is crystal clear, the holding is good, and the semicircle beach is beautiful! It’s too far from town to walk, but it is close to an ice cream store that was unfortunately closed when we were there. (Next time!)

The water is gorgeous!
There’s True North!

Unfortunately, despite being a large town in the Bahamas, this is still a very tiny island. We learned upon arrival that the vet was out of town for continuing education and wouldn’t be back for another week.  Since there are only two vets in the Bahamas there was really nothing we could do so we made the decision to head back up to Staniel Cay so we could meet up with our friends Ian and Shiv who were flying in to stay with Ian’s dad. (He bought our old boat and has been following us around while he learns to sail it).

Both boys hanging out on the floor.

The wind was super light but we finally got our spinnaker rigged up so we got to fly it for the first time! It took us a bit to get the lines hooked up correctly and everything untwisted but it was surprisingly easy to deal with! I’m not a huge fan of the colors. It looks a little too “captain America” and I was hoping for something hilarious and maybe 80s neon, but no such luck!

Ta da!!

That’s pretty good speed!

It took us most of the day to get north because of the lack of wind.  When we did finally turn into the cut it was oddly hazy on the horizon and the line between the sea and the sky was obscured. Made for some interesting photos!
