We could have stayed in Green Turtle Cay for another week exploring and playing in the water (we never made it to the actual beach!!!) but there’s a window of good weather for us to get south to Eleuthera so we have to press onward.  Our friends have to go to Marsh Harbor to pick up a package at the airport, but we chose to go across the water to Hope Town.  Hope Town was completely destroyed by Dorian, but is actually fairly well rebuilt with rows of adorable and colorful houses lining the bay.  We did some fishing on the way over and caught two Cero mackerel (one tiny for cats and one really big one!) and a mutton snapper! The snapper spooled our entire reel because we couldn’t slow the boat down enough (sailing and no room to move).  I thought for sure it was a goner, but the boat just dragged it along until I was finally able to start reeling it in! It fought hard for such a small fish!

So pretty under sail

We got a mooring ball just off of the Hope Town Inn and Marina, which is a beautiful establishment.  We had a super late lunch there and the food was outstanding! Too bad I can’t go play in the pool!

There’s also a lighthouse here that somehow survived the hurricane. It’s unfortunately closed for construction right now, but it was neat to see one! We never found the entrance, but got some closer photos from this old boat yard that the road took us to.

Super weird, right? they all looked like hurricane salvage boats.

We wandered around town one morning and found the little grocery store! It had everything we would have needed to top up on, but was otherwise fairly small.  There were small hilarious signs all over it though, so they get bonus points for personality!

ha!

Everyone here has a bicycle or a golf cart! It’s such a small island I can see why you wouldn’t bother having a car!
