Even though I was in Sasebo, Japan for two weeks, I really only got one day off to really go exploring. I met up with Yuli on Saturday and we headed out to the parks to walk around and see what we could find!

Interesting power lines by the parking garage
Another couple interesting buildings…
Small shrine in the park
Couple on a swing. wonder what they’re talking about.
Another little shrine thing
The moon
Girl and cow
I like this shot of the girl and cow sculpture
Another sculpture along the river
I liked this one in black and white
I’ve always liked this green “Goose” building, but have no idea what it’s for.
Urban details
Buddha statue in a small park at the top of the hill
Is that the radiation symbol?
Looking out over town
Wish I could read Japanese so I would know what this horse was for…

Since we were in a park, there were quite a few stray cats! I tried to befriend each one of them.

orange cat!
Little tabby cat sunning on the sidewalk
I caught this one rolling around. He sat up and posed for the picture.

I have mixed feelings about Sasebo. On one hand, we’re in Japan and everything is interesting and different! But on the other hand, Sasebo is a pretty small town so there are only a few obvious things to do. It’s not nearly as interesting or as easy to explore as Yokosuka and Tokyo. We had a fun day regardless!
