Our last night camping was spent at a “primitive” campground that we found after realizing all of the real campgrounds with showers and toilets etc all cost money.  That’s fine and all because they were all less than $10, but they were completely deserted and we don’t really need any niceties like that.  Mostly though, all the official campgrounds in the Steens Mountain are fairly high in elevation and there was no cell service.  Jason and I were hankering for some email and pinterest, so we kept driving and found this awesome campground next to a lake surrounded by aspen trees! The last time we drove the Steens mountain road this section was covered in golden leaves from the aspens.  It was gorgeous! Unfortunately we were a little too late for that this time and all the leaves were long gone, leaving only the bright white trunks of the trees.  As a consolation prize though, I got to check my Facebook and the campground was completely private and deserted.  Jason and I even had a fire!

Even the shrubs have fall color

Moody clouds and lighting
Neat cloud shape at sunset

It we didn’t have the orange canvas we would have lost the silver truck in the silver aspen trees!
