Fun fact: I don’t really watch movies on airplanes. Maybe one or two if I’ve been wanting to see them, but I can’t just sit there and chain watch for 10 hours straight. So to keep myself entertained on my recent flight to Japan, I downloaded youtube video tutorials instead. (yes, I know I’m a nerd) One that I found really entertaining was a walkthrough on how to edit photos like Brandon Woelfel. I like this guy’s style even though it’s vastly different from what I usually do.

I watched the tutorial on the plane and kind of forgot about it until 2:30 this morning when I woke up due to jet lag shenanigans and couldn’t go back to sleep. So I drug my tripod out of my suitcase and set it up in my window and proceeded to entertain myself with long shutter speed shenanigans for a half hour or so until I decided I was hungry and went to get a snack. The snack isn’t really relevant to my photographic adventures.
After shoving a granola bar in my face I got to work on my photos. They’re a little different because I don’t have models hanging out with me 24/7 so I shot the traffic in Yokosuka, Japan instead. I didn’t think the extreme color grading in the tutorial really works for streets, but I did really end up liking the effect that I got in the end.

Will definitely be trying this again!
