As usual, there was some weather headed in, so Jason and I made our way North to Spanish Wells. Spanish Wells is one of my favorite spots because it’s just a cute little town with colorful buildings, flowers, small local restaurants, ice cream, and a small coffee shop! We chose to anchor the first night in “the pond” which is a shallow anchorage mostly used by fishing boats. The entrance is a narrow and rather sketchy channel but after that we were good to go and spent the day in town exploring and going to the big grocery store!

We didn’t like how our anchor held in the strong wind overnight so we chose to relocate the next day outside of the main Spanish Wells harbor to the little island of Meek’s Patch. There’s not a lot here other than protection from wind and some other boats, but we anchored close to shore and were well away from any other people. Jason went on a mission to snorkel over and check how our anchor was set and told me to get my gear because apparently the area was an old trash dump and there were a ton of bottles and things to look at. I love trash, so I jumped right in. My find of the day was a weird glass cone thing that I found later was the top of a fancy peanut jar!
