Jason and I have always heard about how amazing Sedona, AZ is, so we headed south out of Moab and ended up at by far the nicest campground I’ve ever been in! There were tall shade trees, perfectly level gravel, and a crystal clear stream running through the back! We set up camp and then set out to do some exploring!
The drive into Sedona was amazing. It’s located in a valley surrounded on pretty much all sides with tall red rocks covered in trees. There were way more trees than I expected, especially coming from Moab that’s pretty much just all sandstone. Sedona is practically a forest in some places!
Next we headed out to do some mountain biking! First we tried to part at the trailhead, which didn’t work. Sedona is a victim of its own success so we drove back into town to take the shuttle back up to the trailhead. That accomplished, we set out! The trail was….alright. Unfortunately it was more of a hiking trail that allows bikes so parts were fun but other parts were just walking the bike up steep steps that would be very difficult to ride on. The scenery was outstanding, but I’m not at all impressed by the trails.
One thing about Sedona that I found super weird were all the metaphysical shops scattered around town. Every corner had one stocked with crystals, tarot cards, aura readings, and anything else you could possibly want. I normally find these stores fascinating, but there was literally one in every small shopping area (and there are a LOT of shopping areas in Sedona).
