So far the weather this winter has been uncharacteristically amazing and warm! Unfortunately, Arkansas (and most of the country actually…) was about to get hit with a nasty winter storm.  Instead of being trapped inside the house for at least a week, Jason and I loaded up my truck and decided to drive south until the threat of snow and ice was gone!  Our goal was Carlsbad, NM since neither of us had been there and it looked like a neat area to explore. Obviously, there was a LOT of Texas to get through in the meantime.  We stopped in Matador, TX at Chelle’s Garden and had a truly excellent chicken sandwich!

I never think to get a pic before I take a big ole bite out of it
It was a food truck with a cute outdoor covered sitting area

Our goal tonight was Seminole, Texas.  For no real reason other than I’m on a quest to find a fabric store that *isn’t* just quilting and this place seems like it has 2 stores! So we roll into town and head to the first fabric store.  Turns out it’s all stretchy fabric meant to be sewn into modest dresses for the local Mennonite ladies. Ok, my bad. Well…. the second store was the same. So this stop was a total strike out. Bummer.

A gigantic selection of nothing I can use for my project…

We headed to the hotel, got settled in, and then got a dinner restaurant recommendation from the girl at the front desk.  It was a locally owned Mennonite pizzeria.  I ordered chicken strips and a side salad.  Jason asked the waitress what was good and she recommended the traditional German noodle soup that came with 2 tacos. (weird, but ok) My chicken was fine but the salad was just depressing.  The soup and taco combo was super weird but the worst part was that the soup was flavored with anise, which neither of us like.  The best we can say about that place was that we weren’t hungry anymore.  Easily the worst food I’ve had in a long time. Blegh!

In hindsight, this looks super gross.
Time to get outta here!

Overall, Seminole TX is just a super weird place and I won’t be coming back here.
