So Pinterest is full of images of “glass beach” in Fort Bragg, California. It appears to be nothing but beautiful gleaming morsels of glass of every color! Amazing! I didn’t actually plan on going there (mostly because my grasp of geography is poor at best…) however here we are! So out comes my trusty Google Maps and we hit the road! I had found that the famous glass beach was part of Mackerricher State Park so that’s where we went. It’s a beautiful park, however that’s NOT where the glass beach is. It’s further south, actually more in town and not in the main park area. Ohwell. I’ve made way less scenic navigational blunders before. 😉

So yeah, I didn’t find my sea glass here, but the town of Fort Bragg is actually pretty interesting. We found a hotel for $45/night that wasn’t a total dump. It was right across the street from the marina so Jason and I spent a little time walking the docks and looking at all the fishing boats. If we had actually planned on camping we may have even stayed at Mackerricher. However I’ve found that most camping spots down here are $35/night. I’ll gladly pay $10 more for a shower, real bed, and waffles in the morning.
