Pirates Cove! Sounds so mysterious! The entrance to the cove is through this narrow passage where the reef extends far past the actual rock marker. There’s an arrow painted on a rock pointing to an X on a tree that you line up to make sure you don’t hit anything. I thought that was super shady, but we made it. Lots of little hiking trails. The water here is super clear and the shallow parts of the bay were probably warm enough to swim in! I finally found a beach with rocks on it, so I was climbing over the piles of driftwood to get to the beach and end up spraining my ankle. Brilliant. >:/ We finished our hike, just very slowly.

So this island was awesome. I’d like to come back here and hike some more sometime. However the fascinating thing about this place isn’t the trees, it’s the history.

More information here. Really not a whole lot of information about it. Or maybe I think it’s more fascinating than it really is. 😉 Either way, I was hoping to see some evidence of a settlement there, but dynamite does a pretty good job of blowing that away. (see what I did there?)
Either way, wonderful place to spend a quiet evening at anchor.
