I have 3 niblings and have built a tractor and wagon for 2 of them. To make it fair, the third little guy also deserves a custom toy! Given my recent fascination with old bicycles I settled on a vintage tricycle that I found at a flea market. This particular model is cool because it’s all metal, including the seat, which makes me think it’s pretty old!

Time to start disassembly! This little thing is an order of magnitude more simple than the little green tractor. It came apart quickly with minimal fuss, which was nice.

After taking it all apart I started cleaning up the parts and figuring out what all I need to put it back together correctly. I decided to polish anything I could and started with the rear wheels that looked like chrome.

After multiple coats of paint stripper on all my Amazon boxes in the driveway I finally got the red paint stripped off of the pieces and prepped them for paint. I envisioned a traditional hot rod look for the trike so I got some “chrome” spray paint and decided to try it!

I chose a bright metallic blue for the paint.

After a few coats of blue and gloss clear and even more days of drying it was time to add the pinstripes! I’ve done a little pinstriping but not much so I hope I don’t ruin it!
Time to start putting this thing back together!

I had to order new pedals because the ones on it were falling apart and I ordered matching blue metal flake grips because they looked cool! She’s done!
