My goal for this weekend was to capture what’s left of the amazing fall colors up here in Washington. I wanted to bring all my camera gear and go for a hike and just shoot! However, once we got out there I realized that I just wasn’t feeling it. No creativity whatsoever today. Also, we went to a place called “Green Mountain”. Turns out, it’s all evergreen trees and there wasn’t really any fall color at all. In hindsight, this should have been obvious. I did manage to get a few photos that I was happy with so it wasn’t a total waste. I’ll just have to try again tomorrow!

Those were the only fall colors I found on the entire hike. Which was slightly disappointing, however we did find mushrooms! …and for once I had my macro lens with me!

Since by this point I’ve given up on fall color, I started playing around with the ferns that were growing everywhere and got a few very different looking photos of the same plant.

I know deep down inside that it’s a challenge as a photographer to go to boring spots and have to *make* the photo happen. Usually I have a lot of fun with this, but since I was just having an off day for some reason I didn’t really feel like just doing a series of macro shots or whatever. So I decided to do a few with intentional motion blur. They look more like paintings than photographs. They’re kinda neat I suppose.
