The area in between Crooked and Acklins island is a shallow bank of 3-6′ for the most part.  Most boats will choose to get from Crooked to Acklins by leaving French Wells and sailing in the ocean all the way around the outside, but we bought this boat for the shallow draft so we were determined to use it!  We first took the dinghy and our depth sounder and verified a route across the most shallow part of the bank, then we waited for high tide and went for it! We lucked out and the wind was nonexistent so the water was glassy smooth.

When we finally made it to the deep ocean the water was so clear that we could see coral heads in over 40′ of water.

Green Cay is just a tiny deserted island with nothing of interest except crystal clear water and sand.  We did do a little exploring on land but then had to hurry back to the boat because it looked like a small rain storm popped up and we, of course, left all the hatches open on the boat!

We definitely got in the water and played around and I finally dug out my real camera so I got some cool shots of the boat where you can see the benefit of the centerboard and shallow draft!
