After the weather moved through, we relocated the boat to a different spot just outside the entrance to Compass Cay. Compass is famous for having a large group of nurse sharks at their marina that tourists can pay to swim with. The boys set out to do some spearfishing in the ocean. They had enough luck to bring home dinner and catch enough garbage fish that we could use the scraps to chum in some of the nurse sharks! So once we had about 5 sharks we all jumped (carefully and slowly of course!) into the water and swam with them. I even got some videos of me in my mermaid tail with the sharks! They didn’t really care about the tail or any of us at all, so it was cool to be there with them.

We played with the nurse sharks for quite a while until they suddenly disappeared! For good reason as 2 gigantic tiger sharks finally scented the bloody fish and came in to investigate! Everyone got out of the water for that. (except Dan because he’s crazy)

A truly excellent day of exploring and shark wrangling! The next day we went up one of the shallow bays that we anchored in last season with Sorn and hiked to the top of the hill and then down to the mangrove river inside compass cay.

The water in this area is stunningly clear and blue! Truly excellent sailing!
