So this post is going to be out of order… my bad! Back before we sailed away from Crooked and Acklins islands we took a little detour south to Castle Island to explore the abandoned lighthouse. Now y’all know how much I love abandoned things and a lighthouse is pretty much top tier urban decay. Since this is the Bahamas, there are no warning signs, no safety railings… just whatever you want to do because if you get hurt help is like 12 hours away and it’s all on you. You could see where people had climbed the old stairs to write their names on the wall and slowly but surely the stairs had rotted away. We also got to snorkel a wrecked mail boat, which was cool. This area is pretty exposed to the ocean so you can really only go there when it’s super calm out. We anchored alright, but didn’t feel safe staying the night so after we were done exploring, we headed back north to the main islands for the night before leaving early the next morning!
