We had a few days where the weather cooled down and it was acceptable to be outside.. but no more. It was in the high 80’s all day today and not super pleasant to be outside. Not fun for humans, but sure helps the paint dry quickly!  …and that’s what we were doing today: painting!  We got a lot of the cabinetry done yesterday, so today I started painting all of that.

All the little extra pieces before they get installed. painting things flat is easier than after they’re screwed in place…
All of the shelf support brackets set up last night and are ready to go!
We got the cabinet face plate cut for all the drawers! There’s not much left of it!
Primer!
Another view!
Bright white paint! really livens it up inside!

After painting for a few hours in the hot sun, I had to go back inside and cool down for a while.  Jason took the opportunity to go out and start installing the electrical stuff in the storage cabinet that doubles as a seat back for the dinette!

All of the widgets in place!
Starting the wiring! oh man!!!

The electrical install is looking really really awesome! Good job Jason! :)>

Since we can’t really be working in the same area, I went ahead and sanded down the countertops and filler plates since I ended up hating the color.  It actually looked just like vintage barnwood after hitting it with the sander.

Well, that’s good to know. Not for this project, but maybe later.

Since that’s not the finish I wanted either, I bought some black stain from Ace Hardware and went to town. I wanted black countertops anyway…

much darker!

Turns out that the black stain is perfect. It’s exactly what I wanted!!! You can see a bit of the woodgrain the texture through the black, so it’s not just a boring single color. I can’t wait to finish it up and put the gloss on the top!

While I was taking another break (seems to be a theme for today…) I got a package from Amazon.  So I open it and marvel at what feels like a picture frame. I didn’t order a picture frame, so what the shit? Oh yeah… it’s the hatch that we ordered like yesterday for the propane locker! 🙂 Time to install that!

I cut a hole in the camper! I do not like doing that…
Test fit! Nailed it!
That looks pretty professional!

Now that we have that hatch in place, I can go ahead and install the rest of the structure to make the propane locker fume tight so we don’t die or explode. Then we can finish putting together the rest of the galley cabinets!
